Keep a notepad close by and write down what you observe triggers various tantrums. You can then study over your notes when you get home to figure out a strategy to help your child stop this behavior. When going out somewhere, talk to your child calmly ahead of time and describe in detail how you expect them to act and the consequences if they don't, such as time out or grounding from TV etc,. Try counting to 10 and think of the best tactic of handling temper tantrums your child is having to help from blurting out the first thing that comes to your mind. Studying your notes from your notepad will be a great help here. Instruct your child that anger is a feeling that all kids,children,human beings have, but must learn to have a hold over. Continually bear in mind that there are numerous things that cause temper tantrums in your child. They may be exhausted, a stressful environment such as a shopping mall, or they could just be hungry. Teach your child the right way to get what they want without throwing a tantrum. As an example, "Ask me to please give you the stuffed bear off the ledge, and I will get it for you" Keep in mind too that temper tantrums are just as stressful for your child as the are for you. Something you might choose to do is print this list out so you will have a close reference to helping you have a calmer life with your children.
